What do I bring to my initial appointment?
In your initial appointment with us we will obtain the necessary instructions from you to gain an understanding of your circumstances and position to best advise you on a potential outcome. We will guide you through the necessary instructions however it would be of assistance, if you can think about or bring with you an outline of your relationship including: the children; property and contributions; employment history and assets and liabilities.
In family law property matters full financial disclosure is required between the parties. As such if you can provide us with copies of your recent superannuation and bank statements and property valuations along with details of any companies or trusts it will assist in providing an accurate account of the financial position from the outset and may prevent delays in gaining full financial disclosure.
A copy of your Marriage Certificate will be required to file with an Application made to the Court, as such if you could provide this at the initial appointment it would be of assistance.
If you have received correspondence from your spouse/partner's solicitor, or you have been served with Court documents it is helpful if you can provide a copy of the documents to our office prior to your meeting so that we may have an opportunity to consider these before we meet with you.
