National Employment Standards
The National Employment Standards ("NES") included in the Fair Work Act 2009 provide ten minimum standards of employment that apply to all national system employees and cannot be displace by an employment contract or enterprise agreement. These minimum standards cover: 
• maximum weekly hours
• requests for flexible working arrangements
• parental leave and other related entitlements
• annual leave
• personal/carer's leave and compassionate leave
• community service leave
• long service leave
• public holidays
• notice of termination and redundancy pay
• the Fair Work Information Statement
